Primary Purpose:

The primary purpose of this position is to grow our commercial business by managing a network of independent rep firms and selling the VELUX commercial product program through presentations & scheduled project meetings to the commercial construction segment. The position will require the candidate to develop and implement sales territory development plans for designated sales territories. The primary clients include architects, specifiers, general contractors, roofing contractors, glazers, building owners and developers.

This is a remote position that can be based out of the Atlanta, Charlotte, Chicago, DC/Baltimore or Boston area.

Primary Functions:

  • Achieve budgeted sales results by gaining share and developing a high level of specification for VELUX products.
  • Developing and implementing commercial sales network strategy with commercial independent rep firms.
  • Identify key architect opportunities (i.e. architect trade shows, associations, marketing opportunities).
  • Perform effective and high-level presentations to key architects and other influencers to promote the use of overhead daylighting solutions during the design phase of commercial projects.
  • Work with retail developers, national brands/chains and school districts to influence progressive designs that create enhanced experiences and learning conditions.
  • Develop key relationships with local installation contractors within each market.
  • Preparing bi-annual business plan and operate within established expense budget.
  • Building relationships with customers, providing VELUX a competitive advantage in the market.
  • Management of a commercial sales projects from specification through construction.
  • Equal emphasis on entire commercial product offering that includes; structural and non-structural glass systems, commercial dome skylights, and commercial tubular skylights.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree is required.
  • A minimum of five years of successful commercial sales experience is desired. Experience in domes or commercial structural skylights/glazings preferred.
  • Minimum two years experience calling on architects with proven track record of success is preferred.
  • A documented pattern of achieving high rates of sales growth in a new business segment or channel over a short period of time. Entrepreneurial skills valued in this role.
  • Self-motivated and an impactful presenter, this individual strives in a low share environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
  • Established relationships with key architects, specifiers and key national retail brands in the market preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, are a must.
  • Proficient with all technology tools including but not limited to PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Lotus Notes, World Wide Web, Multimedia tools, etc.
  • Ability to stay informed of current industry trends and application of information to sales opportunities.
  • Ability to foresee and capture business opportunities not yet apparent.
  • Excellent decision making and problem-solving skills.
  • Must possess strong influence and persuasion skills.
  • Persistent sales approach and follow up will all project participants in a timely manner, creating a great VELUX experience required.
  • Willingness to manage a large geographic territory with an emphasis on larger metropolitan areas. Up to 50% travel. (4-6 nights per month).
  • Must present a positive and professional appearance and image.
  • Maneuvering within commercial construction job sites including accessing roofs is required.
  • Ability to perform the essential functions assigned to the position.
  • Compliance with all rules of conduct, safety regulations and policies provided in Employee Handbooks, on Company bulletin boards/announcements, terms/conditions of employment or other means of communication is a requirement of the job.
